Pumpkin Spice Lattes Aren’t All We’re Loving This Fall

Pumpkin Spice

As the Autumn weather creeps in, we welcome changes that invite falling leaves and sweater weather.

We switch our sandals for boots (slouchy or docs this year), step up our cool-weather skincare, and swap our regular espresso for a little “PSL” in our coffee cups (let’s not call it basic, we prefer Normcore).

But there’s something else that needs a little update and that’s your eyewear. Like clothing and skincare, eyewear styles can use a switch-up to keep things feeling seasonally appropriate, especially in September - the undeniable start of the Fashion New Year.

Holly and Vick have been scouring the globe for the best of the best this season, with new frames arriving steadily all the time - it’s like our birthday every day when we dig through the packing tissue to reveal the newness inside… or more like our anniversary, really!

There’s so many options to choose from, how do you know what will keep your frames looking sharp and in focus for Fall?

We checked in with Holly and Vick for their top trends for Fall 2018 and what they had to say was a real eye-opener!

HOLLY Eyewear’s Top 5 Trends for Fall 2018

  • 1. Dark & Shielded Sunglasses
  • Big, black sunglasses are a classic. You should always have a pair of these in your eyewear wardrobe! Updating this classic for this year means keeping an eye out for shields like these from Saint Laurent.

    2. Mega Metals

Whether extra-large or mini-micros, metal frames in fascinating shapes are everywhere this year. Simple yet architectural is the statement with the hottest hexagonal, super round, or cat’s eyes so dramatic they remind us of a stunning butterfly perched right on the bridge of your nose!

    3. Rose Coloured Tints… or Emerald, or Chocolate, or Smoke, or Sapphire...

The options are endless when it comes to the gradient and tint trends. We love nothing more than enhancing a stunning frame with a tinted lens that plays up your eye colour, complexion or the frame itself. Drop your Orgasm blush for the season when you add a rose tint that brings colour to your cheeks, or heighten the glam factor when you build on polished gold frame with a warm amber lens.

    4. Retro Everything

Calling 1975, 1985, 1995, we want our eyewear back - for real! If only we’d held onto those frames, we’d have a killer collection for this season. We’re seeing a tonne of 70s and 80s inspiration for optical frames this season - oversized aviators, rounds, and butterfly shapes in metal, acetate, and combined materials. For sunnies, 90’s micro-lenses are the look for Fall. Everything old is new again - and in better materials and sleeker designs than in the past.

  • 5. Embellished Eyes
  • We can’t get enough of embellished eyewear and love that this trend is showing up strong this season. Whether it’s in the form of metalcraft, fancy cut lenses, or jewels and stones, adding an embellished frame elevates your eyewear to an accessory worthy of evenings, events, and every day.
