Victoria Beckham: Reigning Queen of the “Bigger is Better” Trend
Fashion trends are notoriously fickle. As soon as you find a look that you love, we’re all on to the next trend.
Is it micro-frames? Is it tinted lenses? Is it vibrant acetates? Is it metals?
Right now the answer is: YES – to all of them.
It’s a season rife with stylish extremes from one end of the spectrum to the other. It’s an “anything-goes” moment that we’re living for.
One of the extremes we’re loving most right now is the Bigger Is Better trend we’re seeing in optical and sunglass frames.
A few of our designers are dipping their toes in the oversized arena, but the title of reigning Queen of the trend, in our minds? None other than frame-ophile Victoria Beckham.
Over the years, Beckham has shown us the versatility of the oversized look from retro to modern, from geek chic to yachtclub.
The best part about the “bigger is better” statement?
While it’s definitely on-trend right now, investing in a couple of pairs of oversized opticals when they’re plentiful will set you up with incredibly frames that will become classics that you’ll have in your wardrobe for years to come – we never argue with classic investment pieces.

A feminine take on the Boyfriend Frame we love so much, the strength of the shape is softened by its beveled edges and guilloche patterned wire core which results in a subtle quilted effect. Whether you choose this frame in the ribbony caramel blend shown, in a traditional spotted tortoise, or in translucent, we see this thick, chunky rounded square frame paired with luxe, tailored suiting and killer heels.
The sexiest Navigator frame we’ve seen. This frame gives us serious chic retro vibes we can’t get enough of. Beckham’s signature guilloche patterned wire arm is highlighted, inset on the external side of the arms adding a bit of textured gold to the look.
We’d wear this in a strong amber transition lens all year long, paired with our favourite faded jeans, oversized men’s dress shirt, slouchy socks and sandals.
The oversized trend doesn’t only come in acetate. Sometimes supersize matched with subtlety is best. The geometric circular frame bends these features beautifully, and has ceramic nose pads for a super comfortable fit.
We’d take this piece out for cocktails, paired with a lingerie inspired cami, camel coloured leather pants, and nude heels.
Half Aviator, half Flat-top, there’s something very extra about this half-moon frame. We love how the silver chrome browline adds a touch of jewelry to this accessory while still allowing it to be a fave season after season.
This is the frame we want for trips to the clubhouse pool or on vacation to Miami.
What more would you need than a fluorescent floral print dress to make this a serious lewk?
And last but definitely not least, we couldn’t do this post without mentioning the frame that Posh seems to wear most, herself. All smokey lens and thick, jet black frame, this frame is seriously large and in charge. If you were to have just one oversized frame, this undoubtedly should be it.
